Seder night with Yelala (1st night – virtual seder)

Even at this distance, let’s sit together and tell a story. The same story that we tell every year with the unfurling of the Spring, at the full moon festival of Passover. At this time we tell a tale of an ancient People who lived in constriction and fear, and who danced their way to freedom. We are on our way to liberation, and we are taking you with us! A Seder for Jewish folk and friends of all ages, Not specifically aimed at children, but they are welcome! This seder will have some traditional parts and many creative interpretations and songs. You do not need to understand Hebrew to participate. DO I NEED TO REGISTER? Yes please register by clicking the ‘register’ option in the boxes above. Message us if you are confused! DO I NEED TO PAY? We will make this Seder accessible to all especially at this troubling time. However your Yelala priestesses are freelance and consequently have lost much work due to the current situation. So, IF you are financially stable, we would appreciate a donation to our Patreon page. Anywhere between £5-£25 per household would be wonderful WHERE WILL IT TAKE PLACE? We will be using Zoom WHAT ELSE DO I NEED? To join us it may help if you can get hold of and prepare a seder plate: – A big round plate – Parsley or another fresh green vegetable – A bowl of saltwater – Something else that represents a sacrifice to you, perhaps beetroot – A bitter herb – horseradish for example – A small bowl of charoset, see this recipe ALSO: – Something to dip in saltwater and more saltwater (this is traditional rather than part of the seder plate) – Matzah (/crackers) – Wine or grape juice If you find it hard to gather these items, we suggest you have some fun with pens and cardboard, and make little symbolic versions that you can hold up 🙂 — Image: Mural of Miriam, Moses, Yocheved and Bat-Pharoah / Bat-Ya from the incredible Dura Europos Synagogue in Syria, 244 CE .
