We had a wonderful evening at our autumn Friday night dinner with Chef Karyn Aviani who came all the way from Leicester to cook for us.
Karyn fed us a delicious warming autumnal feast of herby carrot soup and toasted pumpkin seeds, black bean and butternut squash casserole with roast potatoes and slaw, and creamy chocolate pudding.
Karyn shared that her intention was to deliver a warming and comforting meal as we start to hunker down during this season.
Karyn of mixed Ashkenazi (Belarus) and Mizrahi (Yemen) heritage is not only a fantastic chef but also plays guitar and sings as a solo artist. Our volunteer team particularly enjoyed listening to some of her tunes whilst getting involved in the prep. You can also check out her music here.
It was lovely, as with many of our events, to have regular and new members joining. Many guests come on their own, and we take pride in our welcoming and inclusive community.
