Plant-based food brand The Fry Family Food Co has been awarded a gold medal at the Free From Food Awards

Family-owned, plant-based food brand, The Fry Family Food Co , was awarded a gold medal at the Free From Food Awards last week. With more than 600 overall entries into this year’s awards, Fry’s Rice Protein & Chia Nuggets emerged victorious in the Vegan Snacks & Meal Ideas category, after judges labelled the product “very good”, “that little bit different” and praised its “impressive fibrous, meaty texture”. The judging took place over the course of four weeks, during which a dedicated team of judges – made up of manufacturers, product developers, chefs, nutritionists, coeliacs and allergy reactors – scrutinised, tasted and discussed each and every entry. Tammy Fry, international marketing director at The Fry Family Food Co, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded a gold medal by the Free From Food Awards, which is not only totally independent, but is also seen as setting the benchmark for the industry. “When we started Fry’s from our family kitchen back in 1991, we wanted to create nutritious, plant-based food – which tasted amazing – for our family. This bolstered Fry’s distribution in the UK to nearly 800 high street Iceland stores, as well as 141 Iceland Food Warehouse stores, alongside its existing chilled and frozen ranges in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Ocado. The Fry’s brand has also seen a packaging refresh this year, to further highlight its new brand statement of ‘For Families.
