On Sunday 8th of September, the JVS Gardening club enjoyed a wonderful Garden to Plate event. Our top gardener Simone and the volunteers had their second biggest harvest of the vegetable crops being grown from seeds in the JVS garden. The bounty included a variety of tomatoes, golden courgettes, golden beetroots, purple French beans, runner beans and Balotti beans, rainbow chard, lettuce and kale and more.
The event included harvesting, making nasturtium pesto (both with cashews and pine nuts), cooking fresh dishes of pastas and salads! See pictures below & click here for the pesto recipe.
There is still so much more to harvest, especially as the tomato plants are busy ripening. There is much to look forward to at the upcoming JVS Rosh Hashana dinner event as we’ll be cooking our own fresh produce!
Feedback included-
“What a bounty of beautiful veg and food. Makes my heart sing”
“It was a lovely event and really inspiring, learning about and collecting and using all the gorgeous fruits of the gardening group’s labours.”
