Play seeds classical or rock music? Speak to them in a friendly or unfriendly manner? These were some of the philosophical questions during our brainstorming session about how to raise our vegetable seedlings.
Our first Gardening Group event was a truly informative, friendly and fun collective event organised and run by two of our volunteers Simone and Dana. We visited the garden and saw the large, dedicated raised bed in the delightful garden. We received wisdom and guidance from Simone and shared experiences about how we could prep the soil organically, grow our vegetable seedlings, and practiced the process of sowing different seeds and the germination process.
We brain-dumped ideas about our vision of the garden with how to take the process forward; enable participants of JVS events at its wonderful home to engage with, enjoy and benefit from the ritual and pleasure that is gardening for food.
Intentions were shared. Growing organically – in terms of both development and purity – are a sure way forward. And bringing mindfulness and meditation into our gardening. We hope to facilitate the evolution of this resource for the engagement of all.
Finally, we savoured a delicious JVS-made wild garlic pea and mint soup and soda bread – thanks to chef Zoe.
Do you love your gardening or like to try your hand at growing?
We’re looking forward to seeing our vegetable seeds germinate, and then when the seedlings are ready, meeting up for prepping and planting sessions in the JVS garden. Please join us.
