Emma Lewell-Buck, Labour MP for South Shields has sponsored an Early Day Motion welcoming the Plant Based Treaty in the UK parliament.
Early Day Motion (EDM) 434 calls on the Government to “use COP26 in Glasgow as an opportunity to be a world leader in recognising the negative impact of industrial animal agriculture on climate change and commit to developing a global strategy to transition towards more sustainable plant-based food systems.”
The EDM 434 has attracted cross party support from Labour, Social Democratic & Labour, Liberal Democrats, Democratic Unionist Party, Green Party and the Scottish National Party with 14 signatures since it’s launch on 15th September 2021. Supporters include the Green Party’s Caroline Lucas, former shadow chancellor John McDonnell and Glasgow South West MP Chris Stevens.
We want to attract more signatures to this EDM, so if you are in the UK or can pass this on to others, we have an email action where you can ask MPs sign EDM434: https://plantbasedtreaty.org/
